David De Gea Denies Man United Deal

Athletico Madrid goal keeper, David De Gea has denied claims by Sir Alex Ferguson that he is close to a deal that will see him replace the retiring Edwin Van Der Sar at Old Trafford.

Manchester United Manager, Sir Alex Ferguson had earlier claimed that Man. United are close to a deal for De Gea, but De Gea's lawyer says no deal has been made and Athletico president also says he knows nothing about the deal, saying "We don't know anything. Officially neither Manchester [United] or the player at this moment have informed us of anything.


"He [De Gea] knows very well that he can negotiate [with other clubs] but always that they have to pay his buy-out clause."

De Gea's buy out clause is said to be in the region of 25m euros (£22m).

De Gea has kept an impressive 24 clean sheets in 45 appearances for Athletico Madrid this season.
