Manchester United humbled 3-0 by Newcastle in Carabao Cup fourth round

Newcastle United defeated Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford on Wednesday to advance past Manchester United to the Carabao Cup's fourth round. The Red Devils put up a terrible show; they were outplayed by their opponents and never really got into the game.

Miguel Almiron scored Newcastle's first goal in the 25th minute after a deft passing play. Shortly before halftime, Lewis Hall increased the Magpies' lead by curling a free-kick into the top corner. With a well-executed effort from the edge of the box in the 60th minute, Joe Willock effectively ended the match.

Manchester United had a few chances to get back into the game, but they were unable to take them. Bruno Fernandes hit the post in the second half, but that was as close as they came.

The defeat was a major blow for Manchester United, who were hoping to win the Carabao Cup for the second time in a row. It also put more pressure on manager Erik ten Hag, who has struggled to turn things around at the club since taking over in the summer of 2022.

Newcastle's impressive performance

Newcastle United were excellent on the night. They were well-organized and disciplined, and they created a number of chances. Eddie Howe has done a great job at Newcastle since taking over last year, and the Magpies are now looking like a very good team.

Miguel Almiron was Newcastle's star man. He was a constant threat to the Manchester United defense, and he scored a superb goal to open the scoring. Lewis Hall was also excellent, scoring a free-kick and providing an assist.

Manchester United's struggles continue

Manchester United's performance against Newcastle was very disappointing. They never really got into the game and were outplayed by their opponents. It was the latest in a series of poor results for the Red Devils, who have struggled to find consistency this season.

Erik ten Hag will need to find a way to turn things around if he wants to keep his job. He needs to get his players to play with more intensity and passion, and he needs to find a way to get more goals out of them.

Conclusion

Newcastle United's 3-0 victory over Manchester United was a major upset. It was a sign of the progress that the Magpies have made under Eddie Howe, and it was a sign of the struggles that Manchester United are facing under Erik ten Hag.

It will be interesting to see how both teams react to this result. Newcastle will be hoping that they can continue their good form and push for a place in European competition next season. Manchester United, on the other hand, will need to find a way to turn things around if they want to avoid another

MPs Bid To Make Sir Alex Ferguson A Lord

Two MPs from the Labour Party, who are both from Manchester, have tabled a motion in commons calling for Sir Alex Ferguson to be awarded a peerage. Graham Stringer and Tony Lloyd argue that football should be represented in the House of Lords because of its "economic, social, cultural" importance. And Ferguson, who was knighted in 1999 has just led Manchester United to a 12th Premier League title and a record 19 league title would appear to be the perfect person for such a role. Here's the Motion in full. "That this House recognises the economic, social, cultural and sporting importance of football to the United Kingdom; is therefore surprised at the paucity of representatives from the world of football in the Upper House; further notes that Sir Alex Ferguson, as the manager of Aberdeen and Manchester United, is the most successful manager in the history of British football; and calls for him to be recommended for appointment to the House of Lords."
